A Day in the Workshop

A Day in the Workshop

Every candle begins long before the wax is poured. It starts with a quiet morning in our workshop on the Isle of Arran, where the changing light, the scent of fresh flowers and the surrounding landscape all help shape the day ahead.

No two days are exactly the same, but each follows a familiar rhythm of craftsmanship, patience and care.

Starting the Morning

The workshop comes to life early. Shelves filled with candles curing from previous pours are checked first, ensuring each one is setting perfectly before moving on to the next stage.

Materials are gathered, moulds prepared and fragrances carefully chosen. Whether we’re creating a botanical flower candle, a sculptural pillar or one of our elegant bowl candles, every batch is made in small quantities to maintain the highest quality.

Pouring with Care

Once the organic wax reaches the perfect temperature, each candle is hand-poured individually. Timing matters, as does experience. The wax must be poured gently to achieve a smooth finish while preserving the fine details that make each design unique.

It’s a slower way of working, but one we wouldn’t change.

The Waiting

Perhaps the most overlooked part of candle making is waiting.

Freshly poured candles rest quietly on the curing shelves, allowing the wax to cool naturally and develop the best possible finish. Rushing this stage would compromise the quality, so patience is simply part of the process.

While one collection cures, another is being prepared, creating a gentle rhythm throughout the workshop.

Finishing Touches

Once fully cured, each candle is carefully inspected by hand. Any final finishing touches are made before it is wrapped, labelled and prepared for its new home.

Every order is packed with the same care that went into making the candle itself, using thoughtful packaging designed to protect it on its journey while reflecting our commitment to sustainability.

Inspired by Arran

Although much of our time is spent inside the workshop, the Isle of Arran is never far away.

A walk along the shoreline, flowers blooming in nearby gardens, woodland after rainfall or changing seasonal colours often inspire future collections and fragrance ideas. Those everyday moments become part of every candle we make.

More Than a Candle

When you receive a Clachaig Candles creation, you’re receiving more than a beautiful candle. You’re bringing home hours of careful craftsmanship, natural materials, island inspiration and a little of the slower pace of life that makes Arran such a special place.

From our workshop to your home, every candle is made to be enjoyed, shared and remembered.
