Welcome to Beyond the Workshop, where we share the people, places and moments that inspire Clachaig Candles. It’s a glimpse behind the scenes of our family business on the Isle of Arran, celebrating the creativity, challenges and quiet joys of building a handcrafted candle brand.

Many people imagine candle making is simply pouring wax into a mould. In reality, every collection begins long before the workshop comes to life. Inspiration often arrives during a walk along the shoreline, in a cottage garden bursting with seasonal flowers, or while exploring Arran’s woodlands as the seasons gently change.

Some days are spent testing new fragrances, refining designs or experimenting with different botanical combinations until they feel just right. Others are filled with wrapping orders, answering customer messages, photographing new collections or planning what comes next. Running a small business means every day is different, and that’s something we genuinely love.

Sustainability sits at the heart of everything we create. We carefully choose organic waxes, reusable or recyclable packaging wherever possible, and continually look for ways to reduce waste as our business grows. It’s an ongoing journey, but one we’re proud to be on.

Perhaps the most rewarding part of this adventure is knowing that our candles become part of your own story. Whether they’re lit during a quiet evening with a book, given as a thoughtful gift, placed on a beautifully styled table, or simply enjoyed for a few peaceful moments at the end of the day, they’re creating memories beyond our workshop walls.
