Our workshop on the Isle of Arran may be small, but every shelf, mould and piece of equipment has its own purpose. Some have been with us since the very beginning, while others have joined us as our family business has grown.

Here are a few of the tools that quietly work behind the scenes.

Wax Melting Pot

Everything starts here.

Natural wax is gently heated until it reaches the perfect pouring temperature. Careful temperature control is essential, helping every candle set beautifully while protecting both fragrance and botanical details.

It’s a patient process that can’t be rushed.

Candle Moulds

Each mould gives a candle its distinctive character.

From sculptural flowers and elegant pillars to decorative bowls and nature-inspired designs, every mould helps create the unique shapes that have become part of the Clachaig Candles collection.

Once poured, each candle needs time to cool naturally before it can be carefully removed by hand.

Drying Shelves

Freshly poured candles spend time resting on our workshop shelves.

This allows the wax to cure properly, helping each candle develop its best finish before it’s inspected, wrapped and packed for its new home.

Watching rows of candles slowly fill the shelves is one of our favourite parts of the making process.

Botanical Storage

Pressed flowers, dried petals and natural botanicals are carefully stored to keep them clean, organised and ready to use.

Every botanical is chosen to complement a particular design, adding the delicate details that make each candle unique.

Because they’re natural materials, no two candles are ever exactly alike.

Measuring Equipment

Creating consistent quality relies on precision.

Scales, measuring jugs and thermometers ensure every batch contains the correct amount of wax, fragrance and carefully balanced ingredients.

These simple tools play an important role in producing candles that look beautiful and perform reliably.

Hand Finishing Tools

Once each candle has cooled, the finishing work begins.

Wicks are trimmed, surfaces are checked and every candle is individually inspected before being wrapped in eco-friendly packaging.

This final stage allows us to make sure every candle leaving our Arran workshop meets the standard we’d be delighted to receive ourselves.

Packaging Station

The final stop is where every order is prepared for its journey.

Using recyclable boxes, recycled paper and reusable protective packaging wherever possible, each order is wrapped carefully by hand before leaving our workshop for homes across the UK and beyond.

Some of the most important tools in our workshop are also the simplest—a wooden stirring spoon, a pair of scissors, a thermometer or a well-used measuring jug.
