How to Care for Decorative Pillar Candles

How to Care for
Decorative Pillar Candles

Decorative pillar candles are designed to be enjoyed in two ways. Many people choose them as beautiful pieces of home décor, while others love to light them and enjoy their gentle glow. Whichever you choose, a little care will help your candle stay looking its best and perform beautifully.

At Clachaig Candles, each sculptural pillar candle is handmade on the Isle of Arran using premium organic wax. Every design is carefully crafted to celebrate Scotland’s flowers, foliage and natural beauty, making each candle as much a decorative piece as a source of warm candlelight.

Display Your Candle Beautifully

Before lighting, choose a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Natural wax can soften or fade if exposed to strong heat for long periods, so displaying your candle on a shelf, side table or mantelpiece out of direct sun will help preserve its colour and intricate detailing.

Decorative trays, ceramic dishes and wooden boards all make attractive bases while also protecting your furniture.

Before You Light

Always place your pillar candle on a heat-resistant holder with enough room to catch any melted wax. Because decorative candles have sculpted edges and natural contours, the way they melt may differ slightly from a traditional smooth pillar, adding to their unique character.

Trim the wick to around 5 mm before each burn to encourage a steady flame and minimise soot.

Enjoying the Burn

Allow the candle to burn in a safe, draught-free location away from curtains, children and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Many customers enjoy lighting their decorative candles for shorter periods to preserve their beautiful design. As the wax melts, the floral and botanical details gradually become part of the candle’s story, making every burn a little different.

Caring for Handmade Candles

One of the joys of artisan candle making is that no two candles are ever exactly alike. Tiny variations in colour, finish or botanical detail are a natural result of being individually handcrafted rather than mass-produced. These small differences are part of what makes every Clachaig Candle unique.

If dust settles on your candle while it’s on display, simply wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth to restore its appearance.

Crafted to Be Enjoyed

Whether your decorative pillar candle remains an elegant feature in your home or is lit to create a warm, relaxing atmosphere, we hope it brings a little of the Isle of Arran into your everyday life. Every candle is designed to celebrate nature, craftsmanship and the simple pleasure of slowing down.
